Strategic Framework

Taken together, our goal was to get key COVID-19 vaccine messaging to a significant percentage of the American faith community, focusing on the Black and Hispanic communities.

National Faith Steering Committee

We assembled a world-class group of Black and Hispanic faith leaders - deeply trusted messengers at the national, regional and local level - to reach their own communities and share information and inspiration about the COVID-19 vaccines. We met with these leaders every two weeks over the last 6 months, building trust, learning, cultivating community, and growing together.

Educational Materials

With the Ad Council and Joy Collective, together we created Public Service Announcements for the Black and Hispanic faith communities featuring members from our national faith steering committee that aired on national networks including Univision as well as shown in congregations throughout the United States.

In addition to the PSAs, together we created educational material and content that equipped people of faith with the information they need regarding the COVID-19 vaccines. The faith toolkits have been accessed over 50,000 times, and counting!

Our Campaign Events

Our First Event

In March 2021, we hosted our first national event - a remarkable gathering of Black and Hispanic faith leaders that so far has been viewed...

Our Second Event

In May 2021, we hosted a historic, multi-racial event, bringing together the country’s top Black, Hispanic, Asian American and other faith leaders to send a collective message on the need to be vaccinated. So far this event has...

Local Events

We then began hosting local events along with our national events in partnership with our National Faith Steering Committee members. So far we have hosted 35 local and regional events, reaching a wide swath of the Black and Hispanic faith community. These events - national and local - have had a reach of approximately 530,000, all targeting Black and Hispanic Christians with messaging on COVID-19 vaccines. National Faith Steering Committee members also participated in 41 additional vaccine-related activities, including hosting vaccine sites, speaking on denominational panels and more.

Earned Media

Members of the Values Partnerships team as well as the National Faith Steering Committee participated in extensive media outreach and generated substantial earned media.

News sites engaged during the campaign, including NBC News, The Washington Post, and others have over 266,899,224 unique visitors each month.

Most importantly, we’ve reached real people who would not have been vaccinated were it not for this effort.
