Who we work with
We work with clients – media companies, foundations, nonprofits, and private companies – helping them solve big problems, launch new projects, and expand the common good.
For example, we ran major publicity and outreach campaigns for Paramount’s SELMA and FENCES. We help Google partner with Black churches to close the digital divide. We work with the Thomas Jefferson Foundation to unpack difficult issues related to race and slavery in America. We worked with HISTORY to reach over 100 million viewers for The Bible Series. We help make ABC’s Shark Tank more diverse by running inclusive casting in minority communities. We’ve worked with nonprofits from The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center to convene faith and community leaders around important goals. Foundations and Non-Profits
We are connectors and implementers. We help foundations and not-for-profits build partnerships with grassroots leaders to achieve their organizational goals and grow their community presence. And we create media and policy advocacy campaigns that tell the big stories and move people to action.
Our work on social policy is extensive. We’ve developed faith partnerships on job training and public health, fatherhood and gun violence, childhood obesity and international development. We first seek to fully understand the issue at hand, and the research and practice that inform it. We then identify grassroots influencers in the faith community that are passionate about the issue. Finally, we assist clients with building programs to activate these influencers and impact the underlying problem.
But the best work is not completed until people know about it, so we also work with nonprofits and foundations to tell the story of their work. We have deep media relationships and experience with advocacy campaigns, and we know how to bring public attention to the causes that matter most. From live television interviews broadcast across the globe, to newspaper and blogger features, and radio and Internet hits, we leverage our media relationships to get you the right exposure, through the right vehicles, at the right time. media and entertainment
We help media and entertainment companies market and produce films and television programs with meaning and value. We led major marketing campaigns for Paramount’s FENCES, History’s ROOTS, Oprah Winfrey’s BELIEF, Ava DuVernay’s SELMA, multiple projects with A+E Networks, and more. We were also Executive Producers of the groundbreaking documentary, THE 44TH PRESIDENT IN HIS OWN WORDS, on HISTORY, as well as SHINING A LIGHT: A CONCERT FOR PROGRESS ON RACE IN AMERICA on A&E. With our unparalleled network of community relationships and understanding of television and film, we help entertainment companies reach new audiences and achieve remarkable results.

State and Local Government
Based on our experience in the White House, we help units of government partner with grassroots communities to tackle specific social challenges. Members of our team have built faith-community partnerships on workforce development, ex-offender reentry, childhood obesity and other issues. We’ve also assisted state and local government with establishing offices of faith-based engagement.

We help companies unpack challenging issues related to race and justice in society, and partner with grassroots influencers to achieve tangible business results and expand the common good. For example, we work with Google, helping the company partner with grassroots faith and community organizations to close the digital divide.
In these relationships, we think value should flow both ways. We work with private sector clients to reach new customers and identify validators for their business. At the same time, we empower grassroots partners to find support from the private sector for the local challenges they face. We build bridges of respect, relationship and results between the two sides to achieve measurable private impact and tangible public good.

Churches and Faith-based
Values Partnerships helps religious organizations navigate a changing world.
Based on our experience guiding high-profile leaders and organizations through the most fraught issues of our day, we come alongside religious actors doing good in the world and help them to do it better while avoiding common pitfalls. From helping ministries partner with government and other community organizations, to consulting on short and long-term communications challenges, Values Partnerships offers unequaled experience and expertise.

Men and Boys of Color
Joshua DuBois and Values Partnerships are issues related to men and boys of color.
Joshua authored the Newsweek cover story, “The Fight for Black Men” — which historian Taylor Branch called “stunning” — and regularly engages media on men and boys of color issues, including on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, MSNBC Live, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris Perry Show, MSNBC’s Disrupt and multiple regional and local print and radio outlets. We help clients tell the story of their work in the boys and men of color space to advance their individual goals and the overall movement as well.
In addition to strategic communications, Values Partnerships is a leader on public engagement around BMOC issues. Joshua led the White House fatherhood initiative in the President’s first term, and helped develop the outreach and engagement strategy for the Department of Health and Human Service’s $150 million fatherhood.
